Neighborhood overview
Ravenglass is a small coastal village and natural harbour in Cumbria, roughly halfway between the towns of Barrow-in-Furness and Whitehaven, located at the estuary of the rivers Esk, Mite and Irt.

Dating back to at least the 2nd century, Ravenglass was an important naval base for the Romans and you can visit the ancient Roman bath house - a short walk from the house on the way up to Muncaster Castle. It provides multiple opportunities for those interested in bird spotting, trains or just beautiful coastal and mountain countryside.

Excellent food and craft ales can be found at the Inn at Pennington or the Ratty Arms.

The Lal Ratty steam train is a treat - the railway that inspired Thomas the Tank Engine draws visitors from far and wide to take a ride up Eskdale where you can hop on and off.

You can stroll around the estuary and sand dunes, or take a walk up to Muncaster Castle. There's plenty to keep everyone to be entertained!
Getting around
The Furness and Cumbrian coast line passes through Ravenglass and is a 2 minute walk from the property providing rail links to Carlisle and Barrow and the wider UK rail network.
